Ev'rybody's got it comin'
I read it in a magazine, I saw it on TV
On the road to fame and fortune
Some are drivin', some are thumbin'
Some behavin' pretty dumb in search of one brief fantasy
As for me, I've often wondered
When my time came, was I sleepin'?
Did I miss the 15 minutes emblazoned with my name?
Did my personal quarter hour
In the darkness come a-creepin'?
What's the fateful force that's keepin' me
From my rightful share of fame?
