One of my earliest songs. The old man, diminished
by age, entreats his granddaughter to sing him 'to
sleep'. In 1993, I got the idea for Charlotte to
respond contrapuntally and arranged the duet. The
song, like the child it embraces, grew up to lend
a fuller, more balanced perspective to its
antecedent.
Singer-songwriter Janis Liebhart (Charlotte) also
sings backup for Michael Bolton. Recording artists

Come with me, Charlotte, and sing to me
Laugh and smile, your face is Spring to me
Flowers and sunshine you bring to me
Sing to me, Charlotte, sing to me
Light up the room with your glowing eyes
Just like your mother, not quite your size
Much of her in you I recognize
Sing to me, Charlotte, sing to me
Give me the songs of your vibrant youth
Innocence, honesty, love and truth
Lift up my heart with your sweet vermouth
Sing to me, Charlotte, sing to me
Thank you, Grampa,
you gave me my song
You taught me that
love is both gentle and strong
You'll live in my
heart, where you've been all along
Thank you, Grampa
Now with your friends run and play, my dear
Sweet dreams,
Grampa, now close your eyes
Grandfather must go away, I fear
Your life was a
melody full of surprise
Winter has come somewhat soon this year
Now where you go,
there are choirs in the skies
Sing me to sleep, child, sing to me
Sweet dreams,
Grandpa
