In reply to <a href="https://www.jamesdurst.com/press-kit/comment-page-1/#comment-5114">Peggy New</a>.

Hi Peggy!
This is Madhumita, James' widow. So good to hear from you. It will be interesting to have a photo of the book and autograph and also to share with my sister-in-law Judy (James'sister).
I guess you met James in 1978. Let me know where since we didn't meet until 1997!
Warm regards,
Madhumita

James Durst played My club, Poor David's Pub in Dallas, several times. I also knew him through the Kerrville Folk Festival. A gentle soul he was, and a good songwriter, picker and singer. Tonight for some reason his named came to mind and I googled him only to find he had died 3 years ago. Although we were not close, he was considered a friend.
Rest well my friend and speak on my behalf on the other side.

I was looking for the names of the lyricist and music composer of an Indian Bengali song. After some searching I found this website with all the information, even a free translation of the song. Then I looked up the name of the site, and to my utmost surprise I found the name - James Durst. James Durst, what a westerner has to do with this song (incidentally no other site would have the names of the lyricist and music composer for this song, which happens to be the same in this case). This discovery led me to read James' Bio.
What a remarkable life.
You have won my heart!

Rest in Peace my friend!

I met James in San Antonio in 1980 and bought his album Songsmith. I have been singing it ever since. He was so kind in 2003 I wrote him and ask where i could purchase a new copy. He replied and said he thought he might be able to find one in his sisters garage. He did and sent it to me. He was the most generous person I've ever met. God bless James. His music lives on.

What an inspiring story - sounds like you have led a good life. I am happy to say my husband was born in 1945 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war - although he never served on a ship. He was a storekeeper in Hawaii and sent the supplies to our soldiers/sailors in Vietnam. Anyway, your life sounds as if you were blessed by a good family and that you have truly followed your dreams and been happy in the field of music. That is worth a ton of gold - happiness is often fleeting, but you've taken yourself where you wanted to go! God bless you.

hope you're doing well.... It's been a lifetime....
I came across your logo, & just have to say a million thanks for the credit.....
I believe you're the only person to have done such a generous thing.
If you're ever in LA.... Please do call.
I've been singing " if I give my hat to you, then go home, tell a lie to my pa & ma.....
Since I met you.... A hundred years ago....love that enchanting melody
Much love,

I, also, refuse to tweet.
With many other ways to greet
Old friends and new, why not defeat
The Twitterers? Let them just beat feet!

On Twitter? No! I will not tweet.
I'd rather BBQ some meat
Accompanied by garden beets
Roasted on charcoal with mesquite
Than waste my time on silly tweets.

Or listen to a James Durst treat--
Poetic or musical, he can't be beat!
